I would highly recommend this GREAT game! It's a lot of fun fighting Sith or Jedi and being them. It's a real lightsaber experience! It's a little short on the characters but other than that it's just perfect! Play with a friend or family member and it's a lot more fun and exciting! Let's see...where do I begin? I guess I'll start by saying that despite the fact that I don't have much good to say about this product, I'm not too upset because it didn't cost much at all and unfortunately, I got what I paid for.

Upon opening the packaging, the first thing I noticed was how short the charging cable is. It is advertised that you can still play while charging the battery pack in the board. While this is true, it is not at all what I expected. The cord is approximately 3 feet long and I don't keep my Wii on the floor, so the cable barely reached the board. I found a workaround for this as I kept my laptop nearby and just used its USB port for charging the board while I played. Slighty inconvenient? Yes, but that's something I could live with.

My next quip has to do with battery life. I charged the battery for well over 12 hours before my initial use. I played, the board worked fine and I played for about an hour or so. I recharged the battery again after I played and didn't use the board again for about a week. When I went to play the next time, the battery pack didn't even have enough juice for the low battery warning to come up. This was unexpected, but I figured it just didn't hold a charge for a weeks time which wasn't that big of a deal. So I charged the battery, played for about 30 minutes, then when I went to play the next day the battery was dead again. This happened a couple of times. I didn't buy the battery pack expecting to have to charge it everyday after 30 minutes of play, but I just figured I'd continue to use my laptop to charge while I played. Then after using the battery pack for only a total of about 5 times or so, my balance board would power up, but it wouldn't recognize any pressure being put on it. I put regular AA batteries back in it and it worked fine, but the battery pack is now completely useless.

I took a gamble on a cheap product and it didn't work out at all, so I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

Oh, one other thing I failed to mention is that when I first used the battery pack it was too big to fit flush underneath the board. I had to stick something underneath the the four corners of the board to keep the balance from being off so I could use the board effectively.

I bought the second game after I finished the first Indiana Jones which was a lot of fun too play. I was looking forward to the fourth installation of the movie series, and the new levels for the first three. But new levels here means that they totally made up scenes that don't happen in the movies, or are even contradictory to the movies. That didn't bother me that much, though.

Just like in the first one, the best thing is to simply smash everything. You might find keys or needed parts behind plants and furniture.

There are some improvements: It is mostly less frustrating than the first. Indy 1 had levels in which you are attacked from all sides at once by soldiers and flying weapons and what not, so you had a hard time getting closer to the villain. Here, you always know where the bad ones are. The levels are a lot shorter than the levels in the first version. That means you can save your progress more frequently, and it doesn't take as long to play through one level. You can now easily aim with your whip/weapon/tool at things or opponents instead of having to do a finger dance one your remote until your character faces the right way.

However, there are quite a lot of not so good things about the second game. You get confused about where to go to enter the next levels. True, there are big green arrows pointing at the doorway but you have to find these first. It's like going to a theme park in which you want to use the roller coasters in a specific order, only you don't know where they are. The levels are repetitive. Every part has one level with a never ending car chase in which you have to smash a number of villain cars. Once you finish off the first 5 or 6, you get 5 or 6 new opponents, and then 3 or 4 new opponents, then the main villain of that level .... The entire level is just driving around in circles and bumping into other vehicles. I found that extremely annoying and pointless. The final battle of the parts is always the same, the super-baddie is sitting on top of a tornado-like something and you have to throw things at it.

It is still fun to play but if I had to recommend one of the two games, I would go for part 1.

This is a great game for anyone who loves Beatles music, or just loves good music period. Loads of classic Beatles songs, and you can download others from the Wii shop, though almost all my favorites came with the original game. Another nice feature is that you don't have to unlock any songs in game (with the exception of the one you get for beating solo mode), which means all the songs are available in free play immediately without needing any cheat codes or anything. For $20 I'm willing to call this a must have for the Wii. Couldn't be happier.

We just bought a Wii for Father's Day and since my husband is a fisherman, I bought him the fishing package with The Strike Bass Pro game along with the reel. We tried it that day and it was so frustrating with the rod that we gave up for a month or two. We tried again last week without the rod and we LOVE it!

My husband (who is an avid fisherman) is having the best time playing it along with my 9 year old son and 5 year old daughter.

We would recommend to first buy the 17lb line from Bass Pro shops and put it on. Then go to some Casting tournaments to earn some money and then buy the best baitcaster and trigger rod you can afford. You can then pull in big fish faster in the tournaments.

Read the manual before you start so you don't get frustrated! It's a lot of fun! But if you are like me and had no clue what to buy or not buy, don't even bother with trying to buy the package with the rod. It's lots of fun without it.

Did not work with my Wii. Spent an hour trying to set it up and it just kept beeping "testing connection" with no result. I couldn't even get it to reboot without unplugging. Nintendo makes it hard to set up internet for LAN users. I opened up all the ports on my router and it still didn't work.

I guess I won't be playing online or buying from their Wii store. Too bad for you Nintendo

I purchased my M340 Red Kodak camera on August 27, 2009, and while it has features I do like, I hated the fact it didn't have a view finder. Pictures taken in bright sunlight were impossible to center - you just can't see the screen! I used it all year long and 20 days after the warranty ran out, it refused to open and stay open. We were told by Kodak Chat that, because it was still considered a new purchase, that the repair would be covered under the warranty and we sent it in. Then, we received an email stating that this $100 camera would cost $73 to be fixed. My husband called them and the end result was that they needed a receipt - which we obtained at Best Buy - they wouldn't honor the warranty and if we wanted it returned, they would charge us $35. We told them they could keep it!

I'm a huge fan of Shiren on DS and was delighted to discover the game was coming to the Wii. From what I played, all the magic that made the DS game great made it to the new version, but it was crippled by a number of poor implementation decisions.

First, the camera is zoomed too far in. You can only see 3 tiles in any direction. On the DS, this felt acceptable because of the size of the sprites, but on a larger television it feels silly. The game is about making the correct response to your surroundings, and when you can see so little of your surroundings, it makes the game feel frustratingly difficult.

Second, the minimap is drawn over the game world. In the DS version it was nicely placed on the other screen, but in the Wii version you spend all your time looking at the giant map rather than paying attention to what's going on in the screen. To make matters worse, the map becomes more transparent near the center of the screen where your character always sits. Makes sense, except when you're moved on the map to the center of the screen it is confusing because you no longer appear on the minimap.

I really wanted to like this game was disappointed in how the implementation got in the way of some great game design.

Fun game with beautiful graphics. Interesting parts are "talking" with other skiiers and being invited to races. Ski school teaches you how to ski. People "talking" is actually "bleeping" is a little annoying, as are longwinded conversations that you can just skip. More difficult skills are hard for my 4 year old to pick up on, but my 9 year old can do most. Don't need a balance board: it doesn't add much to the game.

I purchased a pair of Prince Tennis Rackets...A friend and I were playing Wii Tennis and the racket head snapped off within the 1st 30 minutes of use. We put the other one away and went on to use the Wii rackets that come with the sport pack. Since them I have ordered tow of the Wii motes. The only problem with this is that the Wii motes do not fit in any other tennis rackets except for the Prince rackets so if you are looking for a true tennis experience this is not for you. A friwedn took out the other Prince Racket and hooked it all up and played for about 15 minutes before the racket head snapped off of that one. Do not waste your money...These are horrible

The Wii is great on its own. The games are fun, and it was easy to set up and start using. However, I feel a bit cheated, in that the unit was sold at the same price whether it came with Wii Sports and Wii Resort, or just Wii Sports. I have to take responsibility for not looking closely enough, that I clicked on the unit with Wii Sports only. But from all the advertising, I expected to also get Wii Resort, so I did not look more closely. So while the game is fun, it is also a bit sad.

I tend to love games that let me sit on the couch.. Gimme a survival horror or rpg game any day over a dumb wii exercise game.

I used to play a ton of ddr for exercise but as the years have passed my love for ddr has waned and I haven't found a suitable replacement.

I then heard of a silly title called we cheer 2 and well I jumped at the opportunity to live out my skanky high school cheerleader fantasy.

After the obligatory embarrassment I suffered at the game store I tore right into this game. First, I chose my adorably flamming male cheerleader and watched him crack an even more flaming smile as he jumped on the cheer bus and off I went!

Finally getting into the game, I have to say I've cracked up part way through a routine more than once out of sheer giddiness from the fun I was having.

The whole game is ridiculously bright (but looks quite good) and everything is just so silly and campy. But its just so good.

Honestly, its the most fun I've ever had with my wii. The song list is pop bliss, the graphics are great and the cheer routines are quite creative. I've really gotten into the groove of some of the routines and trying to do every move at the right speed with perfect timing is addicting fun and seriously hard.

I was covered in sweat after attempting hey mickey for the fifth time trying to get the nuances of the routine down. Trying to look fabulous while swinging my wii remotes around in time with the screen was not easy and takes practice that doesn't feel like blah "exercise.."

The moves are fun and challenging, the music is fun, the remote detection is responsive and its one helluva workout.

If you wanna get up and move, check out this game. The cutesy exterior belies a seriously challenging and thought out game. I didn't know cheerleading was this *$&#?# tough!

Buy it so they make a third one. High quality in every way. Worth every penny I paid.

I don't recommend this camera to anyone, even with a low price, it's not worth it. Though it comes with a 8 megapixel sensor, the picture quality is bad most of the time. I'm a regular DSLR user so I would say I know how to take photo, but with this camera it does not give me good photo, doesn't matter how and what I tried. Yes it's cheap, it looks cute and portable with the AA battery, but the picture quality is very questionable, under any lighting condition. I strongly suggest anyone to look for something cheap but reliable to stay away from this one, and get something in a bit higher price range for better quality.

Bought this after my Kodak EasyShare bit the dust. Everyone raved about Canons, so I thought I'd give it a try. Now, I'm dying to go back to Kodak! This camera takes waaaaay too long to charge the flash between each shot, then waaaaay too long to focus on the subject, and then there's another second delay after you hit the button. Trying to capture "the moment" with my kids is impossible! Or even with group shots I find myself apologizing, "Hold on...it's still charging...hold that smile...trying to focus...not ready yet..." It takes about 5-10 seconds to charge the flash between each shot. Which, when people are waiting, or when your kids are running around, is an eternity. Action shots are impossible -- always blurred. And I haven't been too impressed with the color quality either.

And NOW I'm having trouble with it saying I need new batteries every time I turn it on. Even after I put brand-new batteries in it. I've only had this camera 7 months, and I'm ready to throw it at the wall.

Bottom line: This camera is way too slow, and the quality of the pictures is only so-so. It's more trouble than it's worth.

First -- the negative review is because the unit stopped working -- I received exactly what I ordered and it worked well with my wii -- I purchased the unit to watch Netflix on my TV through the wii.

I don't know if you can only use the Nintendo created LAN adaptor with the wii as they say or if this was a poorly made unit. However, it simply stopped working after 30 days. I stopped using the unit one night and went to use it again two nights later and it was completely broken -- no power, no light, nothing. There were no visible defects with the unit, I hadn't misused it, I am the only person who uses it and have no pets who could have chewed the wire or anything.

Either way I wanted to insure that anyone else thinking about purchasing this item knew about my experience -- I may just be bad luck on my part -- but just in case.

My 6 yr old got this for her birthday. I think she mastered it in less than 4 weeks. she gets limited time to play Wii games, and I think she completed everything in about 6 hours of play. She seemed to blow throught just like she did the Disney Princess game, it would be nice to make it a little more challenging.

Disney Sing It: Pop Hits Bundle This is a totally wonderful concept... but just falls short of the 5-star mark. First, I want to say that I LOVE that the background of the game has the actual videos for the songs... not some goofy cartoon characters "mouthing" the words, etc. However, as many reviewers have already pointed out, these are not the most "popular" songs produced by these artists, which makes it harder to sing along with them. The songs are NOT easy to sing, especially if you don't know the words/tunes beforehand. Also, we already own Boogie Superstar, which we LOVE... so thought this would be fun too, as in this game you can sing with two microphones as a duet/helping each other. However, the microphone that comes with THIS bundle is not very good... doesn't work as well as the Boogie Superstar microphone at all. Half the time, this Disney mic doesn't pick up your singing, so you end up "missing" the notes, meanwhile my daughter who is using the Superstar mic is getting great scores on the same song. Lastly, although the Superstar mic has a long cord on it that plugs into the Wii... the packaging on this Disney bundle led me to believe that the microphone here would be cordless... NOT SO! It also has a super long cord, which is just more tangle to deal with. :(

So between the sub-standard (and misleading picture above) microphone, and the more obscure song list included with this game, I can only rate it 3 stars instead of the 5 star potential it should have had. Again, I DO like the duet option and the music video backgrounds, but wish the interface with the people playing the game was a bit better thought-out/quality.

I had seen this game and was so exited to get it.when i finally got it i slamemed it into the wii and started playing.

story:the story is pretty simple.venom returns and infects spider man during a fight.Which gives spider-man his own black suit again along with some added features such as the tendril whips.Venom also infects all of Manhattan leading to a war between shield and the symbiots(symbiots are a living organism that needs to bond to a host to survive. such as the alien goo that is latches on to Eddie Brock to form venom in the comics and the movie.)as the story progresses you will be require to defeat the normal and symbiotic versions of marvel heros and villains.such as electro, black cat and wolverine.

controls:the controls are the best for a spider man game so far.the hardest to master is the web strike.You have to time your moves perfectly.the trick is to do the bounce rightly at the point of impact.

overall the story is great.It can get boring if you play it too often.the graphics are great.But i do have one problem and that is the freezing.It has only happed twice but it can ruin the game.also it can get brutal. If you pick the bad choice after fighting symboit wolverine then spider-man rips wolverine in half.it doesn't show how or where he was ripped but his lower body is placed in front of his upper body.there is a loophole though if you pock the right choice after fighting symboit wolverine then everything turns out all right. and wolverine keeps all of his body.this is meant for an older audience.not 5 year olds who get scared easily.overall it is great.if you have a 10 year old who loves spiderman this is a great game. but it is not meant for younger kids.It is awesome seeing Manhattan progress from a normal city to an alien infested death trap

Recently played Hard Evidence which was made in 2007 and really enjoyed it so went looking for another CSI game. Found Deadly Intent which is a newer game made in 2009 so thought at the very least it would be the same type of game. NOT! It was so dumbed down I actually looked to see if it was made by a different company. But UbiSoft did both games so that's not the excuse.

It's as if they took an old Win 95 game and just changed the characters. Even the graphics were much worse than the 2007 game.

For an example of what I mean by 'dumbed down' - in 2007's Hard Evidence you would have to choose the right tool to use but in 2009's Deadly Intent you just choose 1 of the 4 catagories of tools and it picks the right tool from that catagory.

There is less equipment available and the equipment is dumbed down as well.

This game is no where near as good as Hard Evidence. What the heck happened UbiSoft?

I am enjoying this game. It's really straight forward and entertaining. I am a little confused about the regional names of some of the items but that's what makes it interesting. For instance in the south, "shades" refers to sunglasses but here in the north shades are window coverings. So I have to figure out if I'm looking for sunglasses or window coverings.

Harmonix has changed the music genre of video games twice: the first time was with the original Guitar Hero in 2005, and then they revolutionized the music game again in 2007 with Rock Band. Guitar Hero was left to Activision and Neversoft when Harmonix started Rock Band, and now the two franchises are competing against each other. Guitar Hero: World Tour (GHWT) is Activision's answer to Rock Band as Guitar Hero now makes the move to a full band setup, but can it really compete with Rock Band?

GHWT's heavy hitter is supposed to be the band play. You know, that thing Rock Band pulled off so successfully a year before this game came out? Well, World Tour has brought in the full band setup with only very mild success. Band play is just plain fun because you can get up to three other people to play cooperatively with you, and that fun never really wears off. However there are issues with drum gameplay and vocals that hurt the band play considerably.

The drums have a few issues that make playing them a pain at times. If you bought the band kit for this game, unless you're REALLY lucky, your drums are broken, and you need to order a cable and download Drum Tuner software from Activision to fix them. Even after fixing them, though, the game likes to make you occasionally miss a note when you're playing perfectly. Star Power is a pain also as you need to hit both cymbals at once, and it's hard to integrate an offbeat hit and hitting both cymbals when you're supposed to hit one often makes you miss the note. The drums are also very hard to hear while you're playing, even with the drum sound turned all the way up. And to top it all off, the drum parts are really hard, making it difficult to improve. Let's just say that drum gameplay from Activision's music games is in need of a lot of fine-tuning.

Attempting to sing in GHWT is an ordeal as well. If you know the song well then there isn't really an issue with performance, but the lyrics are shown on the screen in a small font that's really hard to read, so if you want to sing you'd better learn the song before you give it a stab unless you just want to hum all the way through, which is really boring. There also isn't any kind of gauge telling you how well you're doing throughout the song, and when you finish it seems like you're awarded some random score and star rating and you don't know why you got it. So unless you know the song well, singing is also a pain.

Guitar/bass gameplay, though, is as spot-on as ever in this franchise, and there are a few new elements added that are mostly very good. The slider on the neck of the new guitar controller can be used for special sections of the song where you don't have to strum and can either hit the notes on the frets or tap them on the slider, which is fun to do but sometimes slider sections are poorly integrated or randomly thrown in without much purpose. It's also impossible to reach back to the frets after the slider sections end without missing a note, so if you want to use the slider you'd best use your strumming hand. The bass gameplay has had open notes added to it, which does make it more realistic and is overall a nice addition. So while vocal and drum gameplay don't really hold up well, playing guitar or bass is still a whole lot of fun.

But of course, all of this would be for naught if the setlist lacked fun songs. GHWT has plenty of awesome songs of varying styles and difficulties, but also plenty of duds. 'Crazy Train,' 'Beat It,' and 'Sweet Home Alabama' are but a few of the ridiculously fun songs to play in the game. There are also many songs, though, that aren't any good at all, namely the three songs by Tool that feel long, repetitive, and boring, among other songs. Whether the songs are good or bad, though, there is plenty of variety here both in difficulty and style, with songs ranging from classics like 'On the Road Again' to hard rock/metal songs like 'Trapped Under Ice.' The difficulty also builds up nicely as you advance in the game, on guitar and bass anyways.

GHWT's Career mode may attract your attention at first, but it will turn you off just as quickly. The biggest flaw here is that each instrument has a separate career, so if you got to the end of the game on guitar but want to play drums, you have to start the drums from the very beginning. There's even a fifth career for the full band. This is a huge pain because you can't pick up from where you left off if you want to change instruments. The Career is also very linear still, where you play a set of songs to unlock another set of songs. This time you can at least choose from a number of different sets to play, but you can reach the end of the game without beating nearly all of them. GHWT's Career is, in short, a pain. It's unfortunate that you don't have all the songs from the beginning of the game.

Once you have all the songs you like, though, you can just play them as much as you want in Quickplay. There are also plenty of solid online modes including an 8 player Battle of the Bands, unfortunately you do need four people present to play it. There are enough other modes for online to let you play however you want, though. The Wii version of GHWT also has a Mii Freestyle mode where you can play whatever you want while your Mii rocks out on screen, but this mode loses its entertainment value after about 30 seconds. There is also a deep music studio where you can record and edit your own songs to play, which is a great addition to the game. You can download any songs that other people have uploaded to Wi-Fi also, which is really cool. The only downside to the music studio is also its greatest strength: it's way too complicated to try and figure out unless you really get into it, and if you do then you have nearly limitless value to find in GHWT.

GHWT has also introduced massive customization features, which are mostly quite good. You can create your own characters, guitars, and band logos, and there are tons of detailed options for each. Sometimes the detail is overwhelming, even to the point where you don't want to bother with every single detail. The customization is really quite impressive.

Oh no, we have reached the graphics section of this review. Oh man, the Wii version's graphics are quite terrible. Performance animations aren't very energetic or creative; the characters generally stick to a very small circle and don't move outside of it. The instrument playing animations have no realistic look to them either, especially the drummers whose motions are very poorly animated. The visual quality is also almost as low as it gets: things aren't very clear, there are no lighting effects (even when something is exploding), backgrounds often are made up of 2-D parts, the list goes on. I mean, when something is on fire, you would expect to see more than what looks like a fire-shaped piece of cardboard on it, right? Well, I would, anyways. Let's just leave it at this: GHWT's graphics on Wii show an apparent lack of effort, and look very poor.

Thankfully the graphics can't ruin a game like Guitar Hero, because the most important thing is that the gameplay is fun (especially seeing as you can't really watch the performances while playing the game). Well, most of the gameplay, there are definitely issues with drums and vocals, but guitar and bass gameplay is still great fun and have some cool new features. The song list is also very diverse and has enough great songs to keep you playing for a while. There are definitely some issues in Guitar Hero: World Tour, but in the end it's still a very fun game.

- drum gameplay has issues

- fonts are hard to read

- career is a pain and too linear

LAST WORD: Guitar Hero: World Tour can by no means compete with Rock Band because the drum and vocal gameplay need a lot of help. It's worth owning for the many great songs in it, though, and there are a few nice efforts in the areas of customization and guitar gameplay. Those along with the great songs make GHWT recommendable.

This game adds a fresh thing to the franchise of Dragon Ball, I feel the game is very nice and people who love platform games will enjoy a lot with this game. The graphics are great with a lot of detail, the bosses are huge and impressive. The controls are good but I am having difficulties to adapt to use B button to jump.

Another thing I like of this game is the story, the voice actings are wonderful and makes the story even more entertaining.

This game was frustrating! The way you swing and aim is considerably different than Nintindo-created golf games, which was expected, but over the top. My spouse and I have no difficulty controling the remote when playing Wii Sports by Nintendo, but neither of us could replicate the same success wtih Crazy Golf. We both ran out of turns on every hole attemped. The creativity of the course props does not override the configuration issues for game play. Flat out, it was just too hard.

I felt awkward playing this game at first. The controls were uncomfortable and the gameplay felt like an uninspired Soul Calibur rip-off. I honestly didn't think I'd keep it. But something kept me playing; maybe it was the cheesy but stylish graphics, or the over-the-top special moves; or maybe it was the novelty of having a fighting game with Castlevania characters. But despite ending my first session with a grimaced face, I came back every few days or so to try and figure out why it was still in my collection. After about a half-dozen sessions, I got into 'the groove' and started enjoying the game.

You can either use the Wiimote with nunchuck or GC controller. Personally, I found the best control scheme came from using a PS2 controller via an adapter. Although when I use the Wiimote with nunchuck I feel more involved with the game and it feels more action-packed, my effectiveness declines due to the placement of buttons and limited control schemes available thru the options menu.

One strange thing about this game is that it doesn't automatically make you face your opponent; you can turn your back to them, run away, miss attacks due to being just a degree off, etc. It certainly made things a bit more difficult.

This isn't pick-up-and-play type game. To extract any level of enjoyment, you will probably need to go thru the training mode and manual. Not that it's necessarily a difficult game; it's just that the controls are quite awkward and very different from traditional fighting games and take some getting used to.

'Judgment' is not by any means a groundbreaking game. Compared to contemporary fighters, it is quite average and bland. But if you are a fan of retro games and don't mind 6th gen-type graphics, give CJ some time and you will most likely enjoy it at some level.

This is my favorite Wii game; I LOVE IT. It gets pretty intense, to the point where you get an adrenaline rush. It's also very good exercise. My friends and I spent an entire night playing this game, and our arms were so sore the next morning. If you like Pirates of the Caribbean, you MUST buy this.

The owner of this one is really slow in mailing it back, though...

++ Wii Remote Controller

I purchased this Wii Remote from Aaron Outlet. The product was described as a third party controller, which I did not know at first. My mistake. When I received the so-called "New" Wii remote, it was delivered in a poorly protected bubble wrap envelope. The Wii Remote had the sleeve and the wrist strap already attached, and their was no paperwork or boxes of any sort to be found. Just the Wii Remote in some bubble wrap. So, after putting some battery's in, all seems well, and then the sound. It was the most horrible sound coming from that speaker, even the vibration made more noise than vibrations. After looking online, I found some comparison websites and decided to compare this remote side by side with my own original Wii remote. And sure enough, I had been sold a FAKE. So, not only was this Wii Remote a piece of trash and a waste of $25. But it was also NOT a third party or new device as stated by this seller. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT make any purchases from Aaron Outlet. Nothing but scam.

I'd like to add that I did contact them on this matter, and received no reply to this date. I ended up trading this fake remote to Gamestop for $14 instead.

I purchased this game because I had received a 10 dollar Amazon gift certificate. It's composed of many mini-games, including battles with other monsters. During the game, you search for parts to use to build more monsters. The theme of the game is inspired by old b-horror movies. Overall, it's a really neat game, especially because Halloween is coming up soon. It might be a little frightening to very young users, but for older kids and adults, it's good, campy fun.

I have a 5 year old who is admittedly a very intuitive game player. He has picked up every game he's sat down with in a very short period of time and this includes the ones he has no business playing at 5. This game drew me because it looked like one that was actually age-appropriate, but it quickly became evident that it was never going to keep his interest.

It is very repetitive.

I don't recommend this one at all. (It does look really cool though.)

I stared at this title for months before finally deciding to purchase it. You may read other reviews for the details of gameplay, etc. I just want to list some pros and cons I have not seen others mention:

Pros

1. SENSE OF HISTORICAL SPACE. This game's not based on actual history, but there are certainly historical principles illustrated and the game is true to those principles. I also like that it is not futurized like most games. Your civilization stays historical, never reaching into a silly fantasy-future like some simulation games do.

2. NON-VIOLENT (mostly). As a parent of four young children, we've chosen to pass by the current trend of First Person Shooters to seek titles that resolve conflict without brutality or hate. While there is a military component to the game, it's very low-key and the plot introduces the military mechanics with an excellent lesson on the ethics of war. There's no blood. No dead bodies. Heck, you don't even view actual combat. A big negative for many; a huge positive for us.

3. SECOND PLAYER OPTION. So many reviews I've read on Amazon point out how children love to watch parents play games. They see it as interactive cartoons and love helping the grown-ups solve puzzles. Rare is the game that has a multiplayer option that allows children to interact without damaging the flow of the game for the playing adult. Many reviews here criticize the multi-player function, but the trick is not to think of it as cooperative but as subordinate. I can hand my kid a remote and she can have a real impact in the game by healing my villages of plague or fire and providing wind to make my ships faster and she can also build little miniature buildings all over the place that decorate the towns without draining resources needed to play the real game. It's an excellent balance for adults playing with very young children who cannot yet grasp such a game. My kids and I love it.

4. MODELS BASIC ECONOMICS AND LEADERSHIP. This is NOT an "eduware" title by any stretch, but it IS authentically educational. Most civilization-based games also provide this and may provide it better, but the complexity is kept at a very manageable level. I've played other historical simulations and felt overwhelmed by the micro-management they necessitate. Dawn of Discovery keeps that at bay sufficiently that my 10-year old can manage the game on his own.

5. WHIMSY. The game never completely takes itself seriously, adding subtle humorous touches here and there, like how your buildings wobble in response to motion before you actually place them or how the scary pirate has a grinning snake wrapped around his neck. Nice touches.

6. VOICE ACTING. SO few Wii games feature voice acting (much less good voice acting). This one does and it really adds to the depth. I especially appreciate the accurate accents.

Cons

1. SLIDE SHOW CUT SCENES. With so much detail for the voice-acting, why oh why did they not animate the cut scenes? While the hand-painted artwork for the cut scenes is well done, I feel like I'm watching a film strip projector back in 3rd grade. This took a lot of getting used to, and I've learned to not hate it, but it was a major disappointment (but does not detract at all from game-play; the game is itself is beautifully detailed and animated).

2. CAMERA CONTROL. The controls work fine for the most part. The zoom feature is especially crucial and fun. But so many times I wish I could view my buildings from the North or East or something! Without any pan function whatsoever in the game, we are stuck permanently viewing all the structures from the South facade. A rotate function alleviates this somewhat when you build, but a 360 degree panoramic control is sorely needed.

3. LOTS OF DO-OVERS. In the story version of the game, with every new chapter you must start your civilization from scratch. That's a total of seven complete do-overs, which, granted helps teach the mechanics of the game extremely well, but gets a bit frustrating after chapter six where you build up an enormous city that gets wiped out forever after one transitional cut-scene.

4. SAVE GLITCHES. On at least one occasion, I met the objective for a mission and the game failed to move forward. After being stuck for half an hour (with the game ceaselessly telling me to collect the treasure chest I'd already collected), I had to re-do the entire chapter. I recommend saving rather frequently, using a different save slot each time in case such glitches are common in other game-disks.

IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE: For some inexplicable reason, Amazon is combining the Wii game and the PC game into one review site, giving this game WAY lower scores than if it were on its own. The two games share the same title but are quite different. Nearly ALL the negative reviews are for the PC version (which apparently has some flaw that only PC gamers understand). If you see a review complaining about DRM or limited installations, note that you ARE NOT reading a review for the Wii game.

These controllers are third-party controllers with a Wii "faceplate" attached to them. On the backside of authentic Nintendo controllers there is a Nintendo stamp on the plastic, on these there is none. I was a bit skeptical when I received them as they have a bit of separation between the plastic halves and are off-colored. The buttons are also not as reliable as authentic controllers. This is pretty shameful to try and pass these off as made by Nintendo, which they are not! Beware, if you want to save money you get what you pay for, but I would recommend to buy authentic and save yourself the hassle of these "Made by Nintendo" Classic Controllers.
