I was looking for something a little more strenuous than Wii Fit Plus, something that concentrated on different parts of the body. I finally purchased My Fitness Coach after reading several reviews here on Amazon. To say I'm pleased is an understatement. Where I would do the complete Yoga and either Aerobic or Fitness training with Wii Fit Plus, I still felt a need to do some Wii Sport activity to complete my workout. Not so with My Fitness Coach. About the only thing I don't like about My Fitness Coach is the music! And I don't pay attention to the music anyway.
One of the biggest pluses is the continuity. Using Wii Fit Plus, there are constant, lengthy pauses between each exercise to show how well I stayed in the little yellow dot, showing my calories burned, minutes of exercise, etc. With My Fitness Coach, there are few interruptions. You flow from one exercise to the next without pause. "Maya" only pauses to "catch the beat" occasionally. During a 15 minutes workout, there are no pauses for the first five minutes. Then you get a 10 second "rest." And, the clock stops running while at rest or when Maya is "catching the beat." You get about 28 minutes of hard workout during your 30 minutes routine. That's what I want and need!
You are not "measured" during your workout. It may pause to ask how you're doing, but this has it's purpose. If you say you weren't breaking a sweat, the workout intensity may increase. if you say you couldn't keep up, the intensity is decreased.
You don't need the Wii balance board, but I do use it for Step exercises. The Wii Controller is only used to log in and get started, and to answer when asked how you're doing. The program does not require you to do the exercises exactly as shown, but expects and encourages you to do your best, to maintain your exercise integrity.
My favorite part is each day a different part of the body is selected for work. Upper Body, Core, Lower Body, Flexibility(!!), etc. Each day is a different workout, though many of the same warm-up exercises are constant throughout.
Honestly, this workout is so good, especially the 30-minutes workout, that I generally have to take a few days off from it and do something else. I may take a week and go to the local track or use Wii Fit Plus just for variety, but more to rest my body for another round of My Fitness Coach. But I go back to My Fitness Coach and don't leave it for more than one week. Then it's back to it for another two-three weeks.
My Fitness Coach is the best product I found for working out with Wii. it does exactly what it advertises and exactly what I need.
