I bought this game recently and, as expected, it's the kind of game you can just pick up any time of the day/week/etc. It doesn't have a storyline which may sound bad at first, but is actually pretty great because of it's unlikeness to most games. There's a large variety of things to do and it never seems to get old! Every day is different just as it is in real life and the characters interact with you suprisingly well. I'm used to Harvest Moon series and I'm very new to the Animal Crossing series with this being my first one owned. With that said, I'm used to pretty much the same thing every day (in game) with the characters having mostly the same dailogue day in and day out. In Animal Crossing, however, it seems like you actually enter a whole new world through your Nintendo Wii system. Holidays and even your very own birthday is celebrated on the exact date that it is in real life. This makes it especially exciting to make it a holiday event to check out what's going on in AC:CF when that particular holiday arrives!
The world is colorful and vibrant! Outfit and character customization is also a very nice addition to this game! If you don't like how the premade characters look, don't worry - you can customize their hair style, hair color, and coordinate your outfits! I hated my character's hairstyle, so I took a trip to the city and got a completely different hairstyle! I also was able to create my own designs and wear them as either a hat, outfit, or umbrella! You can even change the whole layout of your house by creating your own wallpaper and flooring. This definitely makes everyone's game different and unique from anyone else's. Also, if you are unhappy with the look of the town, there's an option to completely tear it down and rebuild from scratch! I haven't tried this yet, but I plan to one day in the future when I need a change.
I think this is really a game for just about anyone! While some may not like the fact that there's not a main storyline, I think most people have more than enough games that have so much work involved that this is a welcomed change. While I do have multiple Harvest Moons, Final Fantasies, and Sonics, Animal Crossing: City Folk is a delightful gaming experience that anyone can play or stop playing whenever they want and easily pick up from where they left of without any hassle of trying to remember whatever you've forgotten. :)
